Bridal Buzz Godmother
Wedding Flower Fears
Our next Bridal Buzz Godmother is Tracy Pallari, who doubles up from her day work as an award-winning hair stylist to foray into flowers from time to time… During lockdown our Beauty Editor progressed her passion for wedding flowers to become an expert in two fields. Lucky us that she can answer questions on both subjects, but today she talks flowers…

Q: I really can’t afford the flowers that I want to decorate my venue with. What are my options for flowers on a budget?
A: If you’re working with a tight budget for your flowers, its crucial to be very clear on the florals that will create impact and will be focal points during the day. This way they’ll be captured beautifully by your photographer, and you’ll have lasting memories of just how stunning your wedding flowers were.
These are the most important factors to consider:
Wearables
Wearables like bouquets, buttonholes and corsages will feature in so many pictures of you and your bridal party – the focus should always be placed here. There is a growing trend towards smaller, more delicate bouquets, so sizing is another factor to consider to help keep your costs down.
Dual-purpose arrangements
Floral designs can be displayed in one position and then moved and placed in a different setting. This is a great way to make sure your blooms are on show throughout the day whilst keeping an eye on expenditure.
Keep it seasonal
Use your florist’s experience and expertise to choose flowers that are in season that tend to be slightly lower priced. You can also buy British flowers directly from flower farmers between April and September.

Q: I have a meeting with my florist next week – what questions should I be asking her?
A: It’s important that your florist understands your vision – everyone is unique, and the magic can unfold once they understand how you see your wedding flowers. They can then focus their creativity on the best overall aesthetic to align with how you’d like your flowers to look. Get to know your florist and let them get to know you… your wedding flower journey should be fun, collaborative, and exciting!

Questions you should ask your florist
- How would you describe your floral style?
- What do you enjoy creating the most?
- What is the best use of our floral budget?
- Will you create and deliver our wedding flowers, or do you work with a team?
- What if my favourite flowers are out of season on my wedding date?
Ask your florist why they are a florist – most creatives have a great reason or story as to why they chose their career, and if your florist is passionate about what they do, you’ll end up with the very best that florist has to offer.
