As all girly girls will know, the Barbie movie will hit our screens on the 21st of July, so we took this as an excuse to talk about pink-themed weddings, which we absolutely love! And of course a full-blown Barbie hen do! If you’re looking to plan a fun, colourful celebration, a Barbie theme hen party or wedding could be your thing!
Pink is always on-trend for weddings, and the throwback nostalgia could take you ultra-modern and all-out fluorescent pink or a super vintage, soft girly look with pastels – or a combination of both!
You may not want to go all-out on the pink in a hard-core style for your actual wedding, so why not team your pink with gold to add a touch of elegance to your ultra-girly wedding? These colours complement each other beautifully and can be incorporated into every part of your wedding day, from the save the dates to the centrepieces. Choose blush pink bridesmaid dresses and gold table runners for a cohesive look. You don’t want to read sweet sixteen or Pink Ladies from Grease, do you
Block heels in a bright or candy pink are so reminiscent of the original Mattel figure. Additionally, you could track down some super-cool heart-shaped shades to complete the look.
A vintage pink car could transport you to the ceremony. Too much? We think not!
When choosing floral arrangements, go for feminine blooms like peonies, roses, and ranunculus. These flowers are beautiful and have a soft and delicate appearance that is perfect for adding a feminine touch. Arrange them in vintage-style vases or teacups for an extra touch of charm.
For the wedding cake, go all out with intricate details like sugar flowers and lace accents. A multi-tiered cake with different flavours for each layer will impress and satisfy your guests. Don’t forget to display it on a pretty cake stand! Alternatively, go for French fancies or pink cupcakes, and lots of them.
Consider incorporating vintage elements like lace doilies, antique mirrors, and old books into your decor to complete the look. These items add character and charm while maintaining the overall girly feel of the wedding. Place pink fluffy slippers in old battered open suitcases for guests to wear when feet are sore at the end of the night, and start the day with your girls in Barbie robes while you all get ready (sipping pink bubbles, of course!).
Of course, you can nod to the Barbie aesthetic in other ways – bright pink cocktails with straws, umbrellas and sparklers work well, pink sunnies, pink table runners, or a vivid pink photobooth backdrop with props inspired by the film.
Remember, having a girly wedding is all about embracing femininity and adding romantic touches throughout every aspect of your special day. You don’t need to go all-out Barbie to make it fun and girly, but if you do… Respect!
Barbie The Movie film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and released in theaters only nationwide on July 21, 2023.
