Beautiful bride Katie was so excited to get to her wedding at Boclair House, she was early! Being a bridal stylist for one of Scotland’s biggest bridal boutiques, Katie knew exactly what she wants to wear on her big day, and looked absolutely amazing as she married her childhood sweetheart on a stunning Scottish wedding in July…

How did you meet, and when?

Believe it or not we met while we were both on a girls and guys holiday in Magaluf 2013 – we were 17 and 18 years old.

What was your budget? Did you stick to it?

We didn’t have a budget, but we went over our predicted amount!

How many dresses did you try on before you found the one?

Working in a bridal shop I had a strong idea of the silhouette and material that I wanted, so on the day I actually only tried five dresses on.

What made your one THE one?

I just had a feeling; it felt a lot more special than any of the other dresses I had tried. The tears from my mum helped!

Was there a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?

Rustic sage and bronze.

How did you decorate your venue?

We had the amazing LillyCole Events decorate our venue, Boclair House. Our venue was grand and colourful, so we opted for white flowers everywhere to complement the building.

What were your best decisions for the wedding?

I loved getting married in a separate venue to the reception venue, it allowed a lovely half-hour drive with just me and Jonathan. We also had a telephone guestbook which was a great way to capture our guests’ best wishes – and the drunk voice messages are hilarious to listen to.

What were your favourite moments?

Everything! It’s so difficult to pinpoint a few moments – you could not wipe the smile off my face all day.

Any funny things happen? Embarrassing moments?

Nothing embarrassing thankfully!! Although I would say a few of the dance moves were questionable.

Did you follow all the traditions?

We did try to follow as many wedding traditions as possible.

What were the challenges of planning and organising the wedding?

Thankfully we are both very chilled and relaxed people, so we didn’t find many challenges with planning the wedding.

Any regrets? Anything you would have done differently, or included with hindsight?

No regrets at all! I would do the whole day over again in a heartbeat and not change a single thing.

What advice do you have for other brides?

Just take a deep breath and enjoy every moment. It truly is the most perfect magical day filled with love and happiness from all your nearest and dearest. It will be the best day of your life.
