And if you’re a couple that prefers timelessness over trends, we suggest planning your ceremony and reception in a classic wedding style. That way, your wedding photos will never make you cringe, and the portrait you hang on your wall will look like it was taken yesterday, even decades from now. You should still be madly in love with them and with one another!
Here you will find 10 classic wedding ideas that will never go out of style.

Go with the Flow-ers
Literally cascading from the bride’s hands, with all manner of traily bits (technical term!), these traditional bouquets are fashioned out of different lengthed stems and stalks, creating a natural, trailing effect. Done well, the teardrop bouquet creates a line of sight that takes you directly to the bride. Eye catching and often dramatic, contemporary versions of the teardrop bouquet involve flowers with varying sized heads.

Rose to the Occasion
Not simply just ‘roses’ any more, roses come in all sorts of guises, sizes and a full range of colours these days, don’t they? At the end of the day, they are still one of the ultimate symbols of love and romance, so they still represent a fantastic choice for weddings in the 2020s. Larger, fluffier, bolder roses that you might find in the garden are still popular for pedastals and larger arrangements throughout your venue, while the small roses and even David Austin-style flowers are en vogue for bouquets and centrepieces.

Forever Fashion
Some wedding dress styles simply never go out of fashion, including ballgown, A-line and strapless but there are new contenders to add to that list including fishtail, sheath and tea-length.
Matching Maids
Traditionally, classic bridesmaids all wore the same dress in the same colour and that colour was picked up with your wedding flowers. End of story. But now of course mix and match is all the rage, and even more normal (whatever that is) now, multiway dresses are in and set to stay.

Hat’s That
As Cilla Black used to say: “Shall I buy a hat?” If your mum likes to go formal and wants a look that will never date for your day, she should absolutely wear a hat. Did you know? The Mother of the Bride traditionally dictates when other gusts may remove their hats and headpieces. That said, it’s perfectly acceptable for the ladies to wear them all day long. Just don’t let her choose an overly large hat that’s going to drown her or hide her face and always be sure to adjust it before any pictures are taken to ensure your face is clearly visible. Your photographer should help with this!

Classic family photos
The group family shot, and actually the guest group shot are still de rigour in today’s wedding and are always good to look back on in the whole school photo kind of way. With photos of people, so come the memories and anecdotes reminiscing about your big day.

Grub’s Up
To accompany a classic wedding style, a sit-down dinner complete should a menu filled with wedding classics, featuring local fresh produce. Think prawn cocktail, chicken breast with a white wine sauce and cheesecake!

Cakes in Tiers
You can’t beat an old-school wedding cake with its various tiers – According to tradition, wedding cakes are in tiers to allow for separation. One tier is to eat on the wedding day, the other is for guests to take home, and the last (the top tier) is preserved for the newlyweds to enjoy on their first anniversary after freezing or the christening, whichever comes first!

Away with You
The going-away outfit is an age-old tradition. After the reception, the couple would change from their formal wedding wear into another outfit that they would wear as they depart from the reception to embark on their honeymoon. This doesn’t seem to happen anymore, with the couple often being the last people to leave the party and now taking a honeymoon at a later date, but it’s a tradition we miss and would happily support the return of! Another wedding outfit? Hell yes!
Just Married
Straight out of a Hollywood movie, to set the scene, the happy couple drive off into the distance with tin cans trailing behind and a Just Married sign hanging from the back bumper. If you happen to be driving past a car sporting this kind of décor you might toot and wave in celebration of that couple’s moment.
