real wedding:

Kia & Ceri

29th of July, 2023
Fairyhill, The Gower, South Wales

It’s rare that a couple would change nothing, and absolutely everything went to plan, but this is exactly the case with this stunning wedding in the depths of stunning south Wales. Laidback couple Kia and Ceri got married at the suitably named Fairyhill and were joined by their beloved dog at the altar. We adore the colour scheme of powdery blue, broken up with hints of blush pink…

How did you meet, and when?

We met in college when we were 16 and were in the same college class, we got together towards the end of college when we were 18… Ceri Proposed in Edinburgh after being together five years and we got married exactly 11 years to the day we got together.

How many dresses did you try on before you found the one?

The first shop I went into and the first dress I tried on! I did try on four others in the same shop but went back to my first one. The shop was Rowberry Bridal and Fashion.

What made your one your ONE?

I looked at different styles for ages, and I was set on sleeves and a straight dress. But when I tried my dress on, I had my mother and my future mother in-law with me, and they both said my face just lit up with it on and I was glowing.

Was there a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?

Light blue theme, but had white and blush pink for floral designs to break it up a bit.

How did you decorate your venue?

The flowers were the main decoration – I had two floral pillars for the ceremony, which were later taken inside to go behind the top table, the table decorations were also flowers – they were just out of this world! For signage I made the designs myself on Canva and got the boards printed out at a local printing shop. I also made Wedding Program fans.

What were your best decisions for the wedding?

Organising our dog to run down the aisle towards us was important to us. Also the people we chose to be bridesmaids, flower girls and groomsman – they are close family and friends that mean the world to us. My maid of honour was my sister and the best man was my husband’s twin brother.

The venue and suppliers we picked were also great decisions – everyone was so organised that I didn’t stress once not even in the planning stage. As my husband said in his speech: “I don’t think she stressed at all!” My bridesmaids would say I’m the most laid-back bride. I just didn’t need to stress because the venue and my suppliers were so organised.

I am also so happy that I decided to do an outside wedding, the weather was in our favour – we did get caught in a little rain just as we were signing but that only lasted a minute or so.

My other good decision was having dance lessons. Ceri and I did our first dance to Re-write the Stars by James Arthur and Anne-Marie. We went to dance lessons and practised in our garden.

What were your favourite moments?

My sister started walking our dog Narla down the aisle which turned into a run, but because my dog was trying to run towards us my sister had to let her go and she come bolting down the aisle to us. That was a funny moment. The wedding dance was my favourite moment because we just forgot about everyone around us while we were in that moment, – it was just Ceri and I doing our wedding dance.

Any regrets? Anything you would have done differently?

Nothing I would do differently and I have no regrets at all!

What advice do you have for other brides?
  • If you can avoid it don’t stress and enjoy every moment.
  • Don’t get caught up on things for too long or worry, the day goes so quickly – I wish we could do it all over again exactly the same.
  • Have a wedding spreadsheet with all your suppliers’ details and costs, this helped me keep track of how much I need to pay my suppliers.
  • Create a Pinterest board with all your ideas. You can then share this with your florist and other suppliers to give them a visual picture of what you want.
  • On the wedding day enjoy every moment, and make sure to have a few moments away just you and your new husband. We sat outside on our own away from everyone for about 15 minutes to have some food from the evening. It was so nice.
