New York Bridal Fashion Week

New York Bridal Fashion week

In the UK we have Harrogate, and there’s also Barcelona and Milan, but the biggest and best of all bridal weeks (which are never actual weeks, bizarrely!) in our opinion is New York. New York Bridal Market – to use its other name – delivers an impressive range of classic designer wedding dresses as well as a good glug of cutting-edge design. The who’s who of the bridal industry and media head to New York twice a year on the hunt for new styles for their boutique or new styles for their fashion pages. Designers exhibiting at the show include all the big-name brands, loads of up-and-coming names and a sprinkling of British talent, too.

A visitor to NYBW would find small gatherings, drinks parties, launches, reveals and large-scale catwalk shows scattered around Manhattan. Bridal Fashion Week is the time for the trends to be set and boutiques to decide what will work for their brides in the year ahead.

From sexy and sleek, sensational gowns by Berta, Watters and Milla Nova, to the crème de la crème of the Britpack – Kate Halfpenny, Peter Langer and Sassi Holford, for example, to beautiful ball gowns by Amsale, fabulous floral prints by Claire Pettibone and Justin Alexander Signature’s 3D Florals, it was a Bridal Market full of decadence, glamour and sophistication.

For many years we, too, headed to New York (I know, poor us!) and found the fun on the pumpkin-strewn streets of magnificent Manhattan – the Americans love an autumn window display, combined with Halloween. This year we had too much on back home, but we still managed to keep our ear to the ground and find you the most fabulously fashionable elements of this epic exhibition.

Here are some of our best picks from the Fall New York Bridal Fashion Week…

The Harmony collection for 2024 is out! It is lovely to see designs that are as cutting-edge as they are classic. We adore Sassi and her dress never fails to impress the crowd in New York or back home.

Yet again, the designer focused on that ‘second look’ – with Ines Di Santo presenting dresses that are designed to be worn again, at cocktail parties and other important occasions in her 2024 collection, Modern Perspective.
