UNIQUE WEDDING IDEAS: HOW TO PERSONALISE YOUR BIG DAY
The trend of personalising weddings is redefining traditions in 2024, according to our wedding experts, couples are adding custom touches to elements like save the dates, wedding favours, and gifts, creating unique experiences that reflect their personalities and impress guests.
Wedding expert, Aimee Halls, Co-Founder of wedding planning and styling company, Lola and Luna and Crafty Brewing provide insight on how to add personalised touches to your wedding in various ways.
With weddings today ditching tradition and introducing new captivating trends in every aspect of the event, experts have weighed in on what can be expected. From save the dates to wedding favours, there has been a major shift from the customary ideas.
According to Aimee, “Over the past few years, weddings have increasingly started steering away from the same old traditions. Of course, it’s normal for times to change and trends to move on, whether it’s the style of dress, the cake or the flowers, there’s always going to be a certain level of what’s in and out of fashion.
Couples have increasingly started defying expectations, adding more personal touches to their day rather than sticking with the old conventions.”
One of the largest trends that is only getting more popular is that of personalisation. Couples are disregarding mainstream features and opting for bespoke options wherever possible.
“One thing we’re seeing more of is personalisation at weddings. It makes perfect sense, as the couple want to make sure the day feels unique to them, so having items customised specifically for the couple getting married makes it feel extra special. From table plans centred on where the couple met to embroidered napkins, there are so many opportunities to add a personal touch to the day.”
The most unique ways to personalise your wedding
Save The Dates
Save the dates set the precedent of what is to come. First impressions need to be impressive. It gives the opportunity to have fun and build excitement for the big day and all the events that come with it. Save the dates are a great opportunity to think outside the box especially when it comes to the format of how it is presented – there’s no need to stick to the usual notecard.
Wedding Party Gifts
Groomsmen and Bridesmaid boxes are becoming an increasingly popular part of weddings. Typically given at the time of asking to be part of the big day or on the morning of the wedding to say thank you, they are a thoughtful way to acknowledge those who are apart of making the occasion so special.
Usually filled with gifts that are useful as well as meaningful mementoes, personalisation is an ever-increasing part of the boxes. The possibilities for what can be put in a box are limitless and can be completely tailored to the recipient.
Whether it’s cufflinks, a necklace, a hipflask or pyjamas; the personalisation of gifts adds that extra customised element to the experience, making those that are important to you feel even more special.
Personalised Wedding Favours
A big part of the wedding is who it is celebrated with. Wedding favours are a thoughtful touch to show appreciation for everyone, involved in the occasion. With wedding favours becoming quirkier, they are memorable tokens that guests can enjoy. Making them personalised allows them to be more exclusive to the couple, impressing the guests. Complete customisation also allows the favours to fit with whatever the theme of the wedding is, ensuring they look remarkable on the tables.
Aimee has also witnessed a transition in the selection of wedding favours used, “We’re seeing lots of people get creative with their wedding favours as well, moving away from the traditional sugared almonds for more fun and playful gifts, like personalised drinks, sweets and candles. As well as gifts for the wedding party becoming more of a big deal and an opportunity to give a really heartful personalised thank you for their help and involvement. With so many options available for adding that personal touch we don’t see this trend dying down anytime soon.”
