Short wedding hairstyles for brides

Short wedding hairstyles are very much in demand! If you have a fabulous pixie cut or the cutest of short bobs, you should read on – we have got all the tips and tricks from multi-award-winning wedding hairstyle specialist, our Beauty Editor Tracy Pallari:
“What you want to achieve is volume – it’s quite likely you’ll be wearing a ‘lot’ of wedding dress, so you’ll want to make the most of what you’ve got to keep things in proportion. Just because your hair is short doesn’t mean it can’t be romantic and pretty. Your stylist will have a whole range of products in their kit to create texture and body. My favourites are KYK Magic Dust and Moroccanoil Dry Texture spray – brilliant for pumping up the volume!”

Pretty Pixie

Beautiful Bobs

“Don’t think you can’t have an updo if you have short hair. Professional Bridal stylists are used to working with all hair types and lengths and can produce miraculous results using tricks of the trade and some pretty impressive styling tools. They can create curls, use invisible padding, and use extra hair extensions to create stunning designs. One of my ‘magic’ tools is a tiny root crimper which adds masses of texture to make sure that pins and grips don’t budge, even in a short wedding hairstyle.”

Clever Colours
“Colour your hair! Adding colour or subtle shades of high or lowlights can transform short hair by adding depth and tone, giving the illusion of having more hair than you actually have. Speak to your hairstylist for advice on enhancing your natural shade to add interest and vibrancy. Added benefits are that colour swells the hair shaft slightly and adds light-reflecting particles, so you’ll gain volume and a superb shine!”

Finishing Touches
Every girl dreams of wearing a veil, no matter how long or short her hair is. But most wedding veils are white. You can use custom patches to get a unique wedding veil.
Considering the length, colour, and depth of your hair, you can customise the patches of your veil, such as rose, lily, sunflower, etc. Therefore, custom patches make the overall dress more unique and beautiful, leaving a deep impression on the guests. After the wedding, you can also collect this patch veil and put it at home as a decoration. If you want to customise patches to decorate your veil, try it now!
Lighten the Load
“When looking at hair accessories and veils for short wedding hairstyles, avoid choosing anything too heavy – the shorter your hair, the lighter the headpieces. I prefer to create a hair design and then work with the bride to create a bespoke hair piece that compliments the hair and the dress. Bridal stylists can also use products and techniques to create a ‘base’ to pin these into, but we have to be realistic and accept that a pixie crop haircut will struggle to hold onto a full-length cathedral veil!”

Stay True to You!
“Bridal hair has no rules, so don’t feel you have to go with something totally different or out of your comfort zone just because it’s your wedding day. If you always wear your hair in a sleek short bob – just make sure it’s a great colour, in tip-top condition, cut perfectly and ask your bridal stylist for the most fabulous and voluminous blowdry you’ve ever had!”
