The Buzz Guide to:
Getting a good night’s sleep tips
Sleep is the thing, isn’t it? When you want it, you can’t get it, when you get it, you want more, and when you’re anxious, it’s the first thing to go. And when you’re wedding planning, there isn’t even time for it!

We have teamed up with fitted furniture experts Online Bedrooms to bring you some top sleep tips on how to overcome the nerves that affect your sleep. Nic Shacklock, from Online-Bedrooms.co.uk said: “It’s normal to experience struggle to sleep the night before your big day, it’s a classic case of pre-wedding nerves!
“Brides and grooms-to-be will be worrying about things like guests, vows and the day in general. That said, it’s incredibly important to get a good night’s sleep before your wedding day to make sure you can look and feel your best while enjoying your special day.
“Thankfully, there are lots of helpful sleep tips which can help those hoping to be bright-eyed and feeling fresh on their big day. Our favourites include purchasing a lavender-scented pillow mist or doing a calming yoga routine before bed.”

Sleepy scents
Anxious wedding preppers who are finding it difficult to ease their mind into sleep may benefit from filling their room with scents to aid sleep. Scents like jasmine and lavender have a rich and sweet smell which is often used for relaxing purposes in aromatherapy. The easiest way to bring these scents into your bedroom is by purchasing a room and pillow mist. Just spray it on your bed before you go to sleep and it will effectively aid your slumber.
Pre-bed workout
Daily exercise has been long praised for its impact on a sound slumber. Planning a routine ahead of your wedding eve can be the trick to get you off to a quick and peaceful sleep, whether it is a slow yoga session or a trip to the gym for a more intense workout. Staying active increases your metabolism and helps decrease stress and anxiety.
Stay off your phone
If you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night, the best thing to do is to avoid any sort of mental stimulation. This means staying off your phone and avoiding thinking of any wedding details or worries. If this fails, have a book nearby that you can reach for to distract your mind and send you back to sleep.
Watch what you eat
On the day before your wedding, stay away from spicy foods and heavy meals before bed. Your body needs time to digest the food properly before you get to bed to avoid any difficulties falling asleep.
Avoid caffeine
As tempting as it may be to sit back with a cuppa ahead of your important day, limiting caffeine at least eight hours before heading to bed is important. Coffee, tea and other caffeinated drinks can stick around in your system longer than expected, leading to a night of tossing and turning in bed.
