What were the challenges of planning and organising the wedding?

Making sure all guests have the right information – I sent postal RSVP cards to anyone elderly without an email address and website RSVPs for everyone else… I should have sent RSVP cards to everyone over the age of 40 because they would have found it easier. My hair stylist cancelled four weeks before the wedding, but I ended up finding someone I actually liked better. I love organising things so didn’t find it too challenging at all!

Is there anything you would have done differently?

I wish I had asked someone to touch up my hair in the evening, it had been raining so it went frizzy! I was 30 minutes late for the ceremony because the makeup and hair took so long on everyone, which gave me huge anxiety and I had a meltdown just before walking down the aisle. In hindsight, I would have had fewer people having their hair done, or started a bit earlier.

What advice do you have for other brides?

Try to find time to relax and watch everything happen in the morning – six hours felt like 30 minutes! Reserve some seats in your ceremony so you have all your nearest and dearest in your photos. Spend time having photos with everyone you want to, you will be so glad you did! Take time in the ceremony to appreciate your husband and what is happening, and look at all your guests. If you need time out on the day to be with your closest family and your husband… Don’t feel guilty for not talking to everyone else for a while.
