countryside wedding:
Zoe & RUPERT
20th of May, 2023
Church of All Saints, Chipstable, Somerset and afterwards at the bride’s family farm

120 lucky guests witnessed lovely bride Zoe marry Rupert in a Somerset countryside wedding, with a fun marquee reception at the bride’s family farm. The dancefloor was packed from the moment the band started to play until the DJ hung up his headphones for the evening… Homemade touches made this wedding feel truly person as the happy couple had the time of their lives surrounded by the people they love the most…
How did you meet, and when?
We met when I moved to Somerset six years ago.
What was your budget? Did you stick to it?
We did stick to our budget – JUST!
How many dresses did you try on before you found the one?
Around 15, but then I found my Maggie Sottero gown in Sassi Holford’s boutique, in Taunton.
What made your one your ONE?
It made me feel confident – the dress felt amazing quality and just so comfortable!
Was there a theme or colour scheme for your wedding?
A farm, country, floral wedding theme.
How did you decorate your venue?
Lots of flowers with floral/country farm wedding theme.
What were your best decisions for the wedding?
Most things were handmade so the whole day looked felt like our own!
Did you make any cost savings, and how?
My mum did our flowers, cake and we made our own stationery including the save the dates, invites, name places and table plan.
What were your favourite moments?
My surprise speech before I walked down the aisle, entering the church and seeing each other for the first time, the food and the big party at the night’s end, just generally surrounded by everyone we love.
What were the challenges of planning and organising the wedding?
Numbers, seating, and the weather – with the marquee in a field and wet, boggy ground right up until the week before… But we were so lucky and had the most gorgeous warm spring sunshine on the day, so there was nothing to worry about!
What advice do you have for other brides?
Take it all in, enjoy the process of planning even when stressed, don’t sweat the small stuff! Book a videographer so you have footage as well as photos to remember your special day. Take a moment during the day to step away with some bubbles and your new husband and just take in that moment, looking at the day you’ve created.
As advised by our DJ Future Media – push your first dance back later so it’s at least an hour after evening guests arrive so you’ve had a chance to greet guests but also everyone’s warmed up and ready for the dance floor. Everyone joined us straight after our first dance and didn’t get off the dancefloor for the rest of the night! It made the only thing I was dreading about the day one of my favourite moments!
