So what even is a boho wedding dress? And how do you know if that’s the style you want for your wedding? Well if these are the questions you have been having then you are in the right place!

To us, a bohemian wedding dress is a more relaxed design with less structure and extra floaty shapes, it’s a dress that doesn’t have all the unforgiving tight corset backs or a fitted dress so stiff that it’s impossible to walk in.

It’s a free and full-of-movement dress that reflects the bride’s true personality.  When we think of boho we do not always mean heavy lace or “hippy” vibes, although that is definitely a look that we love and adore.

When you find yourself looking at princess ball gowns or structured silk wedding dresses then I would say that a more traditional wedding dress is for you.

If you are looking for something more relaxed with floaty elements that move with you as you dance, then a bohemian or whimsical dress could be right up your street.

Boho Wedding Dresses

You might be getting married in a countryside wedding venue surrounded by fields and you are looking to embrace the nature around you or maybe you are going to get married barefoot on the sandy shores with the wind brushing through your hair.

Well, if this sounds more like you I would definitely recommend having a browse at these upcoming trending bohemian and whimsical wedding dresses below.

Let’s take a look at their brand-new bohemian wedding dress styles…

1. Driftwoods “All about the layers”:

When talking about layers sometimes we instantly think of massive princess ball gown dresses with multiple sparkly layers, but this isn’t how we see it in the boho wedding scene. Layers are a design element that we are going to be seeing a lot more of. Bohemian and whimsical-styled layers make brides feel more like they are floating on a cloud while their dress moves with them effortlessly.

Driftwood

Driftwood is full of wispy layers truly creating an elegant ethereal and whimsical vibe. The perfect dress for a bride who wants to feel like they want a dress full of movement with soft fabrics floating over them.

2. Sunstone  “All about the neckline”:

Square neckline wedding dresses are making a comeback, there’s a chance that this could be inspired by the popular romantic TV series, Bridgeton. In fact, we have had multiple brides come to our studio especially on the hunt for a square neckline wedding dress.

While Sunstone clearly has the dreamy square neckline it still has more to offer with its breathtaking long whimsy sleeves that elegantly dance with your arms as you move.

3. Wicker “All about the pattern”:

Lots of brides are choosing plain minimalist wedding dresses as they are drawn to how the simplicity of them constructs a statement piece within itself. They also inspire the style of pure effortless beauty.

As you may have noticed by now all these dresses are inspired by minimalism and elegance however, when you look closely they are all full of detailed patterns from head to toe.

We came up with the concept of mixing simplicity and boho lace. We found some of our brides felt lace was too heavy for them but they still loved the delicate detailing and soft shapes it creates. We wanted to create an alternative to lace, something that feels like a hidden surprise of detailed inspiration.

But we didn’t stop there, we have modern minimalism and rustic lace-inspired elements and then we added soft tulle layers inspired by whimsical floatiness. The best combination of all styles, creating something truly special.

Wicker is one of our most subtle dresses that’s full of detail, it’s the perfect representation of cottage core and country life. A slight puffy sleeve adds dramatic effects in an elegant way as well as a striking high neckline.

4. Seagrass  “All about the sleeves”:

Playful sleeves are grabbing the hearts of multiple brides who are looking for a dress that’s glides around the room with them. The sleeves can change the whole appearance and aesthetic of a gown. Some sleeves give off main character vibes.

If you have a little gander on Pinterest at wedding dresses with sleeves you will instantly notice how voluminous they are with soft structured elements. This is a trend I feel we will see for many years to come that will slowly turn into a timeless classic.

Seagrass is a long-sleeved wedding dress full of layers, soft fabrics and voluminous features. A design that was inspired by a bishop sleeve but with more material, adding more graceful and stylish elements.

5. Sandstone “All about keeping it simple”:

Finally, I want to talk about a simple shape, classic spaghetti straps, v neckline and an A-line skirt. This style of dress has hit it off with brides looking to add bold accessories.
From cowgirl boats and hats to long frill gathered veils (in fact we have had a bride in a bespoke dress just like sandstone but full of 3D floral lace, a custom-designed long train and a two-tier frill ivory gathered veil – she looked absolutely spectacular).

So if you are feeling inspired by these dresses then a huge congratulations is in order – you are officially a bohemian bride! Welcome to the club!

But it doesn’t stop here, if you are drawn towards different elements of these dresses and like certain necklines mixed with a different fabric or maybe even a sleeve then you are ready to design your very own wedding dress. It’s time to create something special to you and a completely one-of-a-kind design.

Within our bridal studio, we offer a semi-bespoke service that does just this, you do not have to design your own wedding dress and pluck the idea completely out of your mind, how overwhelming does that sound?!

We have designed this collection so you can try them on and mix and match the elements, we even have interchangeable sleeves, skirts and bodices in a plain cotton fabric that you can try on and use as templates. Once you have taken all the different elements you love we then create a mock-up version of your dress for you to try on so you can see what all these elements look like put together.

After any tweaks and fitting we then make a start on your actual wedding dress – the most exciting part!

We are excited to have inspired you on your bohemian wedding dress journey and we hope you have the best time shopping and celebrating this incredible time.
